How do I use the Hangman Solver?
Enter the word pattern using underscores for unknown letters and the actual letter for positions you have already guessed correctly. For example, "_a__m_n" represents a 7-letter word with A in position 2, M in position 5, and N in position 7. Then enter any letters you have guessed that were wrong in the excluded field, and hit Find Words.
What is the Best Next Guess?
The solver analyses all words that match your current pattern and counts how often each unknown letter appears across those candidates. The letter shown as the best guess appears in the most possible words — guessing it gives you the highest probability of either revealing a correct position or safely eliminating a common letter.
Why are multiple letter suggestions shown?
Hangman strategy often involves more than just the statistically best letter. You might already know a certain letter is in the word, or want to avoid letters that only appear in a few candidates. The ranked suggestion list lets you see the top options with their counts so you can make an informed choice rather than blindly following the top pick.
What are the most common letters in English?
The most frequently occurring letters in English words are E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R, and D — in roughly that order. For Hangman, starting with E and then T or A gives you the best statistical coverage across the widest range of words. Can it solve multi-word phrases?
The solver works one word at a time. For a multi-word phrase, solve the longest or most-constrained word first since it will produce fewer candidates, then move to the shorter words. Enter only the letters relevant to each individual word in the excluded field.
